Improving quality of life through practical local action
-
With the province being unwilling or unable to adequately fund our healthcare system, it’s time for other levels of government to step up to the plate and fill in the gaps. Colwood and Langford have both been very successful in attracting family doctors by running their own clinics. We should build on their success and build our own municipally-run clinic. While this shouldn’t be the role of local governments, I prefer solving problems over finger pointing, and this is a problem that local governments in the region have been able to help solve successfully.

Anyone who spends time at our parks, beaches, or downtown knows that finding a clean public washroom can be a challenge. Building more public washrooms and taking better care of the ones we already have would make public spaces more comfortable for residents and visitors alike. It's a practical investment that would help keep our community cleaner, more welcoming, and easier for everyone to enjoy.

Many people already enjoy a drink responsibly while spending time outdoors with friends and family, and allowing alcohol in some designated public spaces would reflect that reality. With clear rules and enforcement in place, adults can be trusted to enjoy these spaces without creating problems for others. This would make our beaches more inviting and give people another way to enjoy the outdoors.
